The crisp mornings and sunny days of early Spring made for a perfect setting for the Senior High students from throughout our diocese as they met for their annual Lenten Retreat at Camp All Saints on March 1-3. Led by the Diocese of Dallas Youth Commission (DDYC), there were almost twice as many participants as last year, making it the largest Senior High Retreat we’ve ever had.
Enjoying the hospitality of our camp is always like coming home and we especially enjoyed the new additions to the dining hall menu, especially the home made bread, biscuit and rolls! The retreat activities, centered around the theme “Removing Our Masks: Getting Real for Jesus”, mixed together outdoor activities and games, dynamic worship, Matt Stroud’s compelling presentations, small group Bible Study, and poignant sharing of personal “mask removal” struggles by student DDYC members. The weekend ended Sunday morning with the Holy Eucharist celebrated by DDYC member Fr. Michael Hurst followed by a campfire and s’mores!
Sunfish Sailboats Arrived
The fleet of seven Sunfish Sailboats have arrived at
Camp All Saints. La Vida Starships from
Lewisville, TX, delivered the boats the day of the
Labor of Love Work Weekend so we quickly assembled
one and put it in the dining hall for all to see.
Training for instructors is set for May with Mr. Don
Candy. Camp life on the lake is going to look a little
different this year thanks to these new boats.
Want to name a boat? All you have to do is raise $5,000. and send your check to Camp All Saints,
(memo: sailboat) and you can name a boat after your parish! We need to pay for this program and
your generous donations will make it happen. The program costs, in total, $35,000 for the seven
boats. So far we have raised $1,500.
Training for Instructors is happening right now at Camp All Saints under the leadership of Mr. Don Candy.
